Skills Enhancement Made Better
One thing our teachers strive for is enhancing kids writing skills. There are some things that we can do to help this process. A few suggestions to teach our children are:
• Read to your child at an early age and encourage our children to keep reading. This shows them how the writing process works. They learn rhythm, rhyme, inflection, detail, and basic story structure.
• Encourage your child to tell stories about their everyday experiences. Ask them probing questions so they see the importance of details when relaying their thoughts.
• Writing in a journal is a great idea at any age. Once your child learns how to put words together to make a sentence, and then have them keep a journal. Everyday thoughts and experiences can become the next great story.
• Help them brainstorm ideas by focusing on the ideas and not the mechanics. Once they get the ideas down, then they can go back and work the mechanics of their story. It is a building block process and ideas are the foundation.
These are just a few creative writing ideas for kids. Other things that can be taught are writing webs and prompts. A writing resource for kids how to outline the barebones of their ideas. If your child is faced with coming up with their own theme for writing then playing a few word games may be in order, to help them find an idea. Have them list random parts of speech, in a freethinking way. Jotting these words down may spark an idea for a story. Creative writing ideas for kids are only limited to one’s imagination. Teach your children to think far and above and teach them that there is no limit to where there story can go.
